Our Responsibilities

Organizers and hosts are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.

They have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any event attendees for other behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies in public spaces when an individual is representing Connected Data or its community. Examples of representation include using an official project e-mail address, posting via an official social media account or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event. Representation may be further defined and clarified.

Anti-Harassment Policy

As the organizers and hosts of Connected Data World, we are dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at our discretion.

Harassment includes unwelcome or hostile behaviour, including speech (oral or written) that intimidates, creates discomfort, or interferes with a person's participation or opportunity for participation, in our conference. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

o Comments that reinforce social structures of domination, such as those related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion.

o Adult risqué, obscene or sexual images in public spaces

o Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following

o Harassing photography or recording

o Sustained disruption of talks or other events

o Inappropriate physical contact

o Unwelcome attention, unsolicited and unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature

o Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior

Retaliation for reporting any incidents of harassment, or perceived harassment, for making any complaints of harassment, or participating in any investigation of incidents of harassment, or perceived harassment is also strictly prohibited.

Enforcement

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour must comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing or disruptive behaviour, we may take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes, without limitation, warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund.

We may take action to redress anything that we determine in our discretion is designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants. We may notify law enforcement authorities as we see fit.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities. A response that the participant was “just joking,” or “teasing,” or being “playful,” will not be accepted.

Reporting

If someone engages in any harassing behaviour or makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Event staff can be identified by t-shirts and staff badges, or moderator/host roles in online events. You can make a report either personally or anonymously as follows.

You can make a personal report by:

o Emailing info@connected-data.london

o Contacting a conference staff member, identified by STAFF badges, buttons, or shirts, or moderator/host roles in online events.

When taking a personal report, our staff will use reasonable efforts to ensure you cannot be overheard. They may involve other event staff to ensure your report is managed properly. Our staff is instructed to handle report intake as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won't be asked to confront anyone and we won't tell anyone who you are. For online events, you can send a personal message to our staff.

Our team will be happy to help you contact hotel/venue security, local law enforcement, local support services, provide escorts, or otherwise reasonably assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
